THE ROUTE

The first part of the journey

map.gif (48888 bytes)

To start the journey I shall leave home and wheel to London for an official send off from Greenwich. On to Dover and across to Calais is the shortest route, from here I will head along the coast to Dieppe and pick up the route which Thomas Stevens used all those years ago.
When I arrive in Hungary I shall divert around his route of Serbia and go through Romania and Bulgaria rejoining his wheeltracks in Turkey. All the way to Teheran I shall follow Mr Steven's and from here our paths will divert, he headed North East to Afghanistan, but I shall follow a South-Easterly direction to Pakistan.
Across Pakistan and into India and on to Nepal with hopefully a visit to Everest base camp while there. Now across the Himalayas and into China heading East to either Laos or Vietnam. Heading down through Thailand and Malaysia I shall end up in Singapore where I shall cross to the Indonesian islands and make my way towards Australia where a lap of the country would probably be in order.
This will then be decision time, and I can only really decide where to go from here when I arrive.

The options are..
Option 1 : Easy route home, West coast of America.
Option 2 : Fairly tough route home, through South America to USA.
Option 3 : Very tough route home, East coast of Africa heading South West to arrive in South Africa, then on to South America.
Only time will tell, and I believe it will take a good deal of that!
